Get a feel for what life was like in the late 1800s by touring the Koester House Museum. Hear the stories of the family who made this house their home and how the Koester Family influenced Marysville. Be sure to enjoy the gardens, which include 12 white zinc statues that Charles Koester used in the Gardens when he lived here.
We serve the Marshall County Kansas area but have visitors from all over the US and an occasional visitor from a foreign country.
In 1972, the Koester grandchildren gifted this building to the City of Marysville KS, to be used as a museum. In 2025 the city gifted the museum to the Koester House Museum Foundation. The Foundation is currently operating the museum.
The house dates back to 1873 when Charles F. Koester began the building of this lovely house. Charles' love for his home never waned. Through diaries, in which he wrote daily from 1876 to the day of his death in 1902, he expressed his wish to create a happy home that would help shape his children's lives and character. On June 2, 1879, Charles wrote, "What is Paradise? This our Home!". Hope you can join us in seeing this little slice of paradise right here in Marysville KS.
