If This House Could Talk -- Blog Post #6 -- Parlor Furniture

IF THIS HOUSE COULD TALK…Blog Post #6

Wow! That is Charles’ granddaughter, Julia King, in the picture. She is sitting on the rocker that Charles purchased for my 1879-80 addition. As I recall, he selected the rocker and a six-piece parlor set at Pierces’. It was moss and gold colored and quite elegant in design. It came from a St. Louis company and cost $153. I think the picture of Julia King in what is now the library was taken in 1985 when her new son-in-law visited me for the first time. The rocker and parlor set are among the family’s furniture that I still have here at the Koester House Museum & Gardens!
